Sleep Deprivation Takes Its Toll On Your Body

Sleep loss lowers our performance ability.

Have you been burning the midnight oil lately? It takes more than a weekend to get caught up on lost sleep. Your body needs to recoup every hour of lost sleep.

For instance, if you spend time Monday through Thursday staying up late to meet a deadline, that adds up to eight hours of sleep lost. People who regularly get less than six hours of sleep each night are slowly racking up a sleep-debt which can then impact their performance and cognitive abilities.

And get this – even if you feel just a little drowsy, it can still mean you have a tough time focusing, learning, or performing tasks you are accustomed to. New research also suggests that regular sleep deprivation may even have long-lasting negative effects on your brain.

Follow suggestions for improving your sleep that you can find online (like have a sleep routine, watch what you eat in the evening, exercise during the day, etc.) Try natural nutrients that your body might be crying for before going to sleep-aids that are drugs. Every one in my family uses Shaklee’s OsteoMatrix or Shaklee’s Calcium/Magnesium Chewable Plus Tablets before bedtime. It means we get good sleep (even helps reduce snoring) as well as builds up our bones and teeth. This is nature’s natural relaxer.

Here’s to a good night sleep for optimum health for you.

Be sure to leave a comment about your experience with sleep deprivation.

Get Rid of Odors While Helping Asthma Sufferers

Are you tired of lingering smells in your home from pets, spilled food that gives a burning smell in the oven, baby’s diapers?

I have a solution for you that is non-toxic – so it is a true gift of health for your family and for the environment as you please everyone’s noses! Hang on a minute.

Cleveland Clinic says “Using spray cleaners, aerosols & air fresheners as little as once a week may increase the risk of asthma. Many household cleaners contain chemicals that can irritate the respiratory system. When you use them in spray form, you’re more likely to inhale the tiny particles that linger in the air.

A study published in the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine reported that the risk of developing asthma increased with the frequency of use & with the number of different household sprays used. Air fresheners, furniture cleaners & glass cleaners had a particularly strong effect.”

If you are someone who loves a nice smell in your home but hates adding toxins to the air, try this surprise recipe for an air freshener (similar to “Febreeze” but without the toxins):

1 part Shaklee Soft Fabric Concentrate

2 parts filtered water

Put it in a clean spray bottle and mix well. Voila. You have a delightful air freshener to use.

Here’s to a delightfully scented environment. Now you can breathe easy. (Oh, and Shaklee Soft Fabric Concentrate is good at making clothes soft too!)
